Activities are very important, we encourage children to play outdoors and explore the outside world freely. Playing in the sandbox or in our water play area is a great way to stimulate the children to have higher energy and promote exercise and wellness. Growing our Garden is a great activity because it shows children the importance of where their food is coming from. We help children plant and grow vegetables and allow the children to watch the growth of their garden. Some other activities include coloring, drawing, paining, sketching, glitter, glue, cutting, wrapping, and so much more! We provide these activities for the child to let their imagination run free and it gives them a chance to create anything they want, from a picture from mommy and daddy, to the teachers introducing them to basic origami and learning different art techniques.

Reading
Each day we will have the book of the day. We will use the reading time to focus on letter recognition and words. Reading time will help children understand the concept of the story by asking them open-ended questions so they can better engage in their reading.

About Ms. Kati
“Ms. Kati” has a passion for early literacy and learning and is known for her engaging, educational and fun storytimes that incorporate props, music, fingerplays, flannelboards, rhymes and lots of wonderful, age-appropriate books!
Storytime should include lots of educational elements but always be fun! I strive to keep children engaged and having a great time – while they’re learning! My storytimes always include lots of movement, songs and age – appropriate books. Please note that the below descriptions are guidelines – all programs are customizable for the intended group and I can work with you to come up with a plan to best serve your needs.
Preschool Storytime
This 30 minute, high energy storytime is geared towards children ages 3-5 designed to foster and encourage literacy and school readiness. At least 3 age appropriate books are presented and accompanied by a variety of fingerplays, songs, flannelboard stories, and props like scarves, shakers and puppets. Weekly themes vary but since children crave repetition, some elements carry on from week to week. This program can be adapted to add an accompanying take home craft at the end.
Toddler TimeThis storytime is geared towards children 18 months up to age 3 and incorporates lots more music, movement, shorter stories, rhymes, fingerplays and puppets to engage and focus shorter attention spans of these little folks. Each week, we’ll play with scarves, shakers or bubbles as we have fun while learning and improving coordination, focus, fine motor and social skills in this 20-25 minute program. This program can be adapted to add a simple craft at the end.
Baby Lap SitBaby Lap Sit is a warm, welcoming 30 minute storytime with gentle bouncing, short stories, rhymes, and fingerplays designed to keep babies ages 0 – 18 months focused and engaged. Literacy tips for parents and caregivers are provided and a sensory element in the form of scarves, bubbles and shakers is incorporated weekly. Themes change but this storytime will be largely based on repetition so that parents and caregivers are comfortable repeating elements at home.
